Legal · Easter Co. SMP
1. Our agreement with you
Easter LTD ("Easter LTD", "we", "us") operates Easter Co. SMP: the website at launcher.easter.company, the Easter Company launcher, the Easter Company account service and the Easter Co. Survival Multiplayer Server. "Easter Company" and "Easter Co. SMP" are trading names we use for this project.
By visiting the website, installing or using the launcher, creating an account, or joining the server, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use any part of the service.
You must also follow Microsoft's and Mojang's own terms for Minecraft, because you use their game and their account to reach ours. Where those terms say something stricter about Minecraft itself, they apply to your use of Minecraft.
2. Who may use Easter Co. SMP
- You must be 13 or older, which is the minimum age for a Minecraft account. We do not knowingly let anyone under 13 create an account, sign in or play.
- If you are under 18, you must have a parent or guardian's agreement before you create an account or use the server.
- You need a Microsoft account that owns Minecraft Java Edition with a set-up Java player profile. Minecraft access is checked with Microsoft each time you play. Another provider's sign-in alone does not grant Minecraft access.
- You must be allowed to use the service under the laws that apply to you, and you must not be barred from using it by our moderation.
- We provide the service for personal, non-commercial enjoyment. Running it as a paid service, a bot network, or a commercial promotion requires our written agreement.
3. Your Easter Company account
- One account per person. Accounts are personal. Do not share your password, sell or transfer an account, or create accounts to get around a ban, a mute or an account limit.
- Keep it secure. Choose a password you do not use anywhere else, keep your email address current, and tell us promptly if you think someone else has access. You are responsible for what is done through your account until you tell us it is compromised.
- Truthful details. Give a username, display name and profile picture that do not impersonate anyone else, and do not use a picture you have no right to use.
- Your provider links. You may link Microsoft/Xbox, Google, Steam and Discord. A provider identity belongs to one account and cannot be transferred, and we do not merge accounts. Linking a provider that belongs to someone else is a breach of these terms.
- Recovery. You can recover a forgotten password by re-authenticating through a linked provider. Keep at least one provider link you still control, or you may lose access to your account.
- We may ask you to re-verify your account, or suspend sign-in, if we reasonably believe it is compromised or being misused.
4. The Easter Company launcher
- Your licence. We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use the launcher to download, install, update and start Minecraft on a machine you control, for personal use, in line with these terms.
- Updates are mandatory. The launcher updates itself and its client files in order to play. A version that is out of date may refuse to launch the game. We may change, add or remove features at any time.
- Install location. The launcher installs into its own app-owned folder and does not take over, modify or write into an existing
.minecraft directory, another launcher's files, our server or our world.
- Downloads are checked. Files the launcher downloads are verified against a published checksum before use. That protects against corruption in transit; it is not a warranty about third-party software.
- Unsigned installers. Our installers are not code-signed with a commercial certificate, so Windows SmartScreen may warn you the first time you run one. That warning is expected. Download installers only from our GitHub Releases page, which the website links to, and never from a third party.
- What you must not do. Do not redistribute, sublicense, rent or sell the launcher or its installers; do not remove or bypass its update checks, its checksum checks or its account checks; do not use it to attack, scrape or overload our service or anyone else's; and do not reverse engineer it except to the extent the law expressly allows, such as for interoperability or security research.
5. Third-party software and services
The launcher downloads Minecraft from Mojang, the third-party client mods we run from their publishers (including Modrinth's download service), and our own custom mod and files from our own pages. Minecraft, those mods and those services belong to their own publishers and are governed by their own licences and terms. We do not control them, we do not promise they will always be available, and we are not responsible for them beyond what the law requires. Third-party notices for the software we ship are published in our repository.
Our servers, our launcher and our custom mod are designed to work together. Joining our server with an unauthorised client version, or with modifications that are not permitted under section 6, may be refused or treated as a breach of these terms.
6. Server rules
Easter Co. SMP is a survival game with crime, piracy, bounties and patrols built in. In-game crime is part of the game. Stealing, raiding, griefing, ambushing, betraying and taking bounties are legitimate ways to play, and losing items, builds or progress to another player is a risk you accept by playing here.
What is not part of the game, and is prohibited:
- Cheating. Hacked clients, X-ray or other unfair advantage mods, exploits, duplication bugs, unauthorised automation or macros, and using a bug instead of reporting it.
- Attacks on the service. Denial of service, lag machines that break the server for others, crash or chunk-banning tricks, and any attempt to reach data or systems you are not authorised to reach.
- Ban evasion. Rejoining on another account, another Minecraft identity or another Microsoft account while restricted.
- Real-world harm. Threats, harassment that continues after you are asked to stop, hate speech, sexual content involving minors, sharing someone's real personal information, and encouraging anyone to harm themselves or anyone else.
- Other people's accounts and property. Taking, buying, selling or sharing accounts, or distributing content you have no right to distribute.
- Advertising and spam for other servers, services or trades, and flooding chat or signs.
- Ignoring staff. Not following a reasonable instruction from a member of staff about the rules above.
These rules apply in game, in signs and names, and anywhere our community gathers under our name. If something is not covered here, staff may still act if the behaviour clearly undermines the server for other people. Ask before you do something you are unsure about.
Reporting a security problem
If you think you have found a security problem in our website, launcher or account service, email support@easter.company with enough detail to reproduce it, and give us a reasonable chance to fix it before you tell anyone else. We will not treat good-faith security research as a breach of these terms, provided you do not access other people's data, disrupt the service for other players, destroy data, or demand payment for the finding. This does not give anyone permission to test the accounts or devices of another player.
7. Moderation, bans and removals
We reserve the right to refuse, restrict, suspend or end your access to any part of Easter Co. SMP at any time, with or without notice, and to do so temporarily or permanently. That includes warning, muting, kicking, jailing, temporarily banning or permanently banning an account, a Minecraft identity or a Microsoft identity, and refusing access entirely.
We may also, at our discretion:
- remove, move, alter or delete builds, items, containers, entities, names, signs or other in-game content that break these rules or that endanger the world or the server;
- roll back or restore part of the world, and reset or reverse progress, items or currency gained through cheating or exploits;
- correct the results of a bug or an exploit, even where that affects players who did not cause it;
- keep a record of a moderation decision so a restriction cannot be evaded.
We do not have to give a reason for a moderation decision, but we will usually tell you what happened. If you think a decision was wrong, email support@easter.company with your Minecraft name, the action taken and what you think was missed. An appeal is a request for a review, not a right to be reinstated. We may refuse to accept appeals for abuse of the appeal process.
Moderation decisions are ours to make. Nothing in these terms gives you a right to play, to a particular world, or to a particular version of the server.
8. In-game property, resets and backups
You have no ownership or property right in the server, the world, or any item, entity, currency, rank or region in it. What you build is yours to enjoy while you play, but the world is ours to run, change, reset, restore or close.
We take rolling world backups so that the server can recover from failures, and we may restore a backup at any time. A backup restore, a world reset, a region cleanup, a boss reset or an economy correction can change or remove things you had, and you accept that risk by playing. We do not promise to recover any particular item, build or block, and we do not offer compensation for in-game losses, including losses caused by other players, by bugs, or by our own decisions.
9. Payments and donations
Easter Co. SMP is currently free to play, and we take no payments and no donations. If we ever accept money, separate terms will be published first, and anything you pay will be for the service as it then is. Money will never buy leniency: a payment or a donation does not buy immunity from these rules, a rank with moderation power, or a guarantee that the server continues.
You pay Microsoft or Mojang directly for Minecraft, and we are not part of that transaction.
10. Your content and play recordings
You keep whatever rights you have in the builds, chat, names, pictures and other material you contribute. To run the service, you give us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, copy, back up, transmit, display and process that material as needed to operate Easter Co. SMP, which includes screenshots, recordings and our public pages.
Your play may be recorded. The server records game sessions for moderation, support and anti-cheat purposes, and official screenshots, streams or videos may show you, your name, your buildings and your chat. Chat on a public server is public to the other people there, so do not put anything private in it.
Our public map and public data files publish ships, patrols, villagers and mobs as a daily snapshot. They never publish player locations or player records. You may look at the map, but you may not scrape, mirror, resell or automate access to our website or its data in a way that burdens the service.
We may remove any content that breaks these rules, infringes someone's rights, or is needed to protect someone. If you believe content on our service infringes your copyright, email legal@easter.company with enough detail for us to find it and to assess your claim. We will remove or disable access where that is appropriate, and we may ban repeat infringers.
11. Our intellectual property
The Easter Company and Easter Co. SMP names, our crest, our website, our launcher, our custom mod and our written content belong to Easter LTD and are protected by copyright and other laws. All rights are reserved. You may use them as these terms allow and as our downloads intend: install and play, take screenshots and stream or record your own play, and refer to Easter Co. SMP by name when you talk or write about it. You may not copy, redistribute, resell or present our branding, our launcher or our mod as your own, or use them in a way that suggests we endorse you.
12. Minecraft and other trademarks
Minecraft, the Minecraft logo and Mojang are trademarks of Microsoft Corporation or its affiliates. Other names, logos and marks used on this website or in the launcher belong to their owners.
Easter Co. SMP is a fan-operated community server. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by or approved by Microsoft, Mojang or any other game publisher.
13. Availability and changes
Easter Co. SMP is run by a small family operation. The server sleeps when nobody is playing, may be taken down for maintenance or updates, may change its features, rules or hardware, and may be closed. We do not promise that any part of the service will be available at a particular time or at all, or that a world, a save or a version will be preserved. Maintenance, updates, restarts and outages are normal and are not a breach of these terms.
We may change these terms, the rules in section 6, or the shape of the service at any time. Section 19 explains how changes to these terms are announced.
14. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, why, who we share it with, how long we keep it and how to have it deleted. It forms part of this agreement.
15. Limitation of liability
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited. If you are a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected, including your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
To the extent the law allows, and because the service is provided free of charge:
- the service is provided "as is", and we give no warranty that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or that it will work with any particular machine, modification or version;
- we are not liable for loss of in-game progress, items, builds, currency, rank or world data, for loss of records, or for any loss caused by another player, a third-party mod or service, or a bug;
- we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for loss of profit, business, goodwill or opportunity;
- our total liability to you for any claim arising out of or relating to the service is limited to £100.
Where the law does not allow a limit to apply to you, that limit does not apply. The rest of these terms continues to apply.
16. Your responsibility to us
If a claim, loss or cost is brought against us because you broke these terms, broke the law, or infringed someone else's rights — including by uploading content you had no right to use, or by attacking our service — you agree to cover us for the reasonable cost of dealing with it, to the extent the law allows. This does not apply where the claim was caused by something we did wrong.
17. Ending this agreement
You may stop using Easter Co. SMP at any time, and you may ask us to delete your account and the personal data attached to it (section 14, and section 12 of the Privacy Policy).
We may suspend or end your access at any time under section 7. Once access ends, the licence in section 4 ends and you must stop using the launcher and our files. Sections that by their nature should survive termination — including sections 8, 10, 11, 15, 16, 18 and 19 — continue to apply.
18. Governing law and jurisdiction
These terms, their subject matter and their formation are governed by the law of Scotland. The courts of Scotland have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of or in connection with them, except that:
- if you are a consumer living elsewhere in the United Kingdom, you may also bring proceedings in the courts of the part of the United Kingdom where you live;
- if you are a consumer living in the European Union, European Economic Area or Switzerland, the mandatory consumer protections of the country where you live continue to apply, and you may bring proceedings there.
Nothing in this section removes a right you have that cannot be waived by agreement.
19. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The "Last updated" date at the top always says which version applies, and the current version is always published here. If a change materially affects your rights, we will announce it on the website and in the launcher before it takes effect. Continuing to use Easter Co. SMP after a change means you accept the updated terms. If you do not accept them, stop using the service and ask us to delete your account.
If any part of these terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, that part is removed to the smallest extent necessary and the rest stays in force. If we do not enforce a term on one occasion, we can still enforce it later. We may transfer our rights and obligations under these terms to another organisation; we will tell you if we do.
